Secondary Dean of Culture

Overview

The Secondary Dean of Culture plays a pivotal leadership role in guiding the pastoral care of students in Grades 6 through 12. This position requires collaboration with the Head of Secondary, Associate Head of Secondary, Grade Level Leaders, Counselors, Learning Support Team, and IB Coordinators. The Dean is committed to the school’s Vision for Learning and adheres to the belief that proactive initiatives and evidence-based educational strategies enhance student well-being. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of research-backed practices tailored for middle and high school students.

Reports to: Principal of Secondary (or the Associate Principal of Secondary in the Principal's absence).

Core Principles


Enhances and supports the school’s mission, educational vision, and international curriculum.


Promotes both student and adult learning and achievement.


Advocates for the IB MYP and IB DP curriculum.


Facilitates student transitions (from Elementary to Middle, Middle to High, MYP5 to DP1).


Fosters and maintains community relationships.


Guides the establishment of a restorative justice approach for student discipline and conflict resolution.


Aids in the development and execution of a comprehensive advisory program.


Collaborates with the Associate Head of Secondary on secondary school events.

Qualifications:


Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related discipline.


Certification or specialized training in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Applied Behavior Analysis (BCBA preferred), or restorative practices.


3-5 years of experience in educational environments assisting students with behavioral or social-emotional challenges.


High level of proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:


Ability to communicate in Spanish (both written and spoken).


Experience and/or certification in International Baccalaureate (IB) programs (MYP and DP).


Background in advisory programs and pastoral care.


Experience in international school settings or diverse cultural environments.

Compensation

37.000 € - 54.000 € per year (Extra compensation for Wider Leadership Member)
