About This Role
ROLE SUMMARY:
King’s College School, Cascais is on the lookout for dedicated and responsible Summer Camp Residential Monitors to ensure the wellbeing, safety, and supervision of both boarding and day students during our Summer Camp program, which is set to run from 24 June to 25 July 2026. The successful candidates will report directly to the Summer Camp Boarding Coordinator and will play a vital role in delivering outstanding pastoral care, overseeing daily routines, assisting with evening activities, and guaranteeing that all students are safe, supported, and adhering to school protocols at all times.
This position demands flexibility, teamwork, and a strong dedication to safeguarding. Working hours will include evenings, late duties, overnight supervision, and being on-call during emergencies.
• Provide outstanding pastoral care that supports the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of students while maintaining appropriate discipline.
• Ensure that students adhere to all boarding and school protocols, including sign-in/out procedures, meal times, bedtime routines, medication management, and night-time guidelines.
• Guarantee that students are never left unsupervised, even during offsite excursions.
• Collaborate closely with the Camp Director, Deputies, and Boarding Coordinator, promptly communicating any concerns.
• Accompany students on offsite excursions, strictly following all safety protocols.
• Engage in evening activities and facilitate social interaction among students.
• Attend all staff meetings and mandatory training sessions before and during the camp.
• Take responsibility for materials used in activities and ensure all areas are kept clean and organized.
• Be available to respond appropriately in case of incidents, fire alarms, intruder alerts, or other emergencies.
• Assist with first aid and health-related issues alongside the Camp Director, Deputies, and Nurse.
• Aid in the arrival and departure processes, including greeting families and helping with airport transfers.
• Work flexibly within a rota system, accommodating late duties, overnight supervision, and additional coverage as needed.
• Adhere to all school policies, guidelines outlined in the staff handbook, and safeguarding procedures.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
• Advanced or Proficient English language skills (C1–C2 level required).
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• A willingness to comply with school procedures and uphold high professional standards in behavior, hygiene, and appearance.
• A commitment to safeguarding, child safety, and overall wellbeing.
• The ability to remain calm, responsible, and responsive in emergency situations.
• Flexibility to work evenings, nights, and varied shifts as part of a rota.
• Valid authorization to work in Portugal.
• A criminal record certificate issued within the last three months.
• A CV with a photograph, scanned copies of degrees and certificates, along with two written references.
• Availability to attend training sessions and camp activities from 24 June to 25 July 2026.
