About This Role

ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais is on the lookout for a passionate and dedicated Pre-Engineering and STEAM Teaching Assistant + Monitor to aid in delivering engaging hands-on engineering and STEAM activities during our Summer Camp program. This position involves assisting in the assembly of the Bufori EViE Kart, facilitating STEAM projects for students aged 9 and older, and providing oversight and support for wellbeing throughout daily and evening events.

The program spans four weeks, running from 24 June to 25 July 2026, and is organized into two two-week camp sessions, comprising both teaching support and residential-style monitoring responsibilities. The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with the program coordinator, teaching staff, and camp leadership to guarantee a safe, stimulating, and well-structured camp experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Assist in the delivery of engaging pre-engineering and STEAM lessons and practical activities.


Support the assembly of the Bufori EViE Kart and the distribution of STEAM project kits.


Contribute to the development and customization of lesson content to accommodate diverse student needs and abilities.


Collaborate with the program coordinator in planning the two-week camp schedules and desired learning outcomes.


Facilitate the differentiation of activities to address various skill levels and experiences.


Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages teamwork and critical thinking.


Aid in assessing student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement.


Supervise students (generally 10–15 aged 9–17) ensuring they are never left unsupervised.


Assist with evening activities, outings, and airport transfers as per camp schedules.


Engage in duty rotations, including supervision during breaks, meal times, pool sessions, and night monitoring as necessary.


Take responsibility for materials used in activities and help maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas.


Address first aid and wellbeing needs and promptly report any injuries, accidents, or health issues.


Attend all training days, safeguarding sessions, and staff meetings.


Adhere to school policies, staff handbook guidelines, health and safety, and safeguarding protocols at all times.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:


A degree in engineering, computer science, or new technologies.


A solid background in engineering and STEAM.


Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.


Prior experience in curriculum delivery (preferred).


Must be at least 19 years old.


Advanced or Proficient level of English (C1–C2 required).


Capacity to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.


Aptitude for planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.


Creativity and the ability to inspire innovation.


Capability to work independently and maintain self-motivation.


Strong time management skills and a commitment to meeting responsibilities.


A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to navigate new and complex situations.


Dedication to professional conduct, safeguarding, and the wellbeing of children.


Valid authorization to work within the EU.

Compensation

300 € - 350 € per week (Salary: Euros 1400 gross for the whole period. Included: accommodation, meals, accident insurance Day Off: 3 mornings a week, Saturday afternoon and Sunday)
