About This Role
Hillmorton High School is a diverse urban coeducational school situated in the South-West of Christchurch. The school is a fast-growing Y7–13 school with dedicated middle and senior schools. We have a roll of around 1,400 and with further building works underway. The roll is expected to increase in the next few years.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and effective classroom practitioner to join the Social Sciences department.
A reflective and student-focused teacher, the successful applicant will have strong curriculum knowledge and an ability to teach senior Geography.
An ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and whānau is essential.
A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the understanding and ability to teach using culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential.
The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher and be willing to commit to our co-curricular programme also.
The Role
Full time, Fixed term, Start Date: 20/04/2026, End Date: 11/12/2026 (Staff member on extended leave)
Key Responsibilities
- Teach social sciences to secondary students (Years 7–15).
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans.
- Assess and report on student progress.
- Participate in school activities and co-curricular programmes.
Qualifications
- Must be a NZ registered teacher.
- Strong curriculum knowledge in social sciences.
- Experience teaching senior Geography is preferred.
