About This Role

The Vancouver Waldorf School (VWS), located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, is seeking a passionate and experienced High School Science Teacher (Chemistry) with a solid understanding of the subject and a connection to anthroposophy. While prior experience in Waldorf education is preferred, candidates should be ready to develop lesson plans that align with both the Waldorf and BC Ministry of Education curricula.

Role and Responsibilities

High School teachers play a vital role in the VWS community, actively participating in various facets of school life, including faculty meetings, school events, and committees. A willingness to collaborate with colleagues both within and outside of the department is essential. The teaching responsibilities will include delivering the Waldorf High School Science curriculum for Grades 10-12, along with additional duties such as:

  • Mentoring Senior Projects for grade 12 students
  • Engaging in committee work
  • Attending section meetings and full faculty sessions
  • Participating in professional development opportunities
  • Evaluating student progress, including preparing oral and written reports
  • Conducting meetings with parents

Applicant Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • A BC Teaching Certificate or eligibility to qualify through the Ministry of Education’s Teacher Certification Branch
  • Knowledge of or experience in Waldorf education
  • Waldorf Teacher Certification or a commitment to pursue such a program
