About This Role

We are looking for a driven professional ready to make an immediate impact, with significant experience in the events industry being a crucial requirement. The School is well-equipped with exceptional resources, and the ideal candidate will swiftly create and present an engaging events proposal for the Chief Financial and Operations Officer's approval.

Birkenhead School, recognized as the Sunday Times Independent Secondary School of the Year in the North-West for 2025, was established in 1860. This HMC independent day school offers education to both boys and girls from across the Wirral, Liverpool, Chester, and North Wales. Located in the picturesque suburb of Oxton, the School boasts excellent facilities, with a campus that features a 'village green' atmosphere, where classrooms and laboratories overlook the cricket square.

A hallmark of the School is its vibrant community, which includes students, staff, and parents. The School is deeply integrated within the broader Wirral community and maintains strong connections with local businesses and charities. To foster this excellence and sense of belonging, the School relies on a dedicated, skilled, and collaborative staff. The informal motto, Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience, has recently been expanded to include Inclusivity, Compassion, Integrity, Humility, and Courage as defined values. At Birkenhead School, we prioritize attitude alongside the qualifications of candidates, a philosophy that has significantly contributed to our recognition by the Sunday Times—our staff consistently go above and beyond.

The Role

Birkenhead School is financially robust and well-managed, having adapted following the introduction of VAT on fees in January 2025. With ambitious plans to maintain its leadership role in education both regionally and nationally, the School aims to diversify its income sources to further invest in its facilities and community.

This vision has led to the establishment of a new position for an Events Manager, an exciting opportunity to enhance the School's offerings through the increased commercial use of its assets and facilities. The Events Manager will report directly to the Chief Financial & Operations Officer (CFOO).
