General Responsibilities: All Yasmina British Academy Staff

• Support the academy in realizing its overarching vision and strategic goals while contributing to the targets outlined in the academy's improvement plan and self-evaluation document.

• Adhere to health and safety regulations and comply with the academy's policies on safe working practices and equal opportunity legislation.

• Follow the academy's Performance Management Policy by setting ambitious annual targets and fulfilling the role of performance management reviewer if assigned by the Principal.

• Participate in annual training related to child protection, safeguarding, and health and safety, alongside any additional training deemed essential for academy improvement or performance management.

• Maintain adherence to the academy's dress code at all times, including wearing photo ID/lanyard.

• Comply with the academy's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for computer usage at all times.

• Attend all staff briefings.

• Sign in and out at the academy's reception if off-site during the normal working hours.

Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks: Planning, Preparation, Teaching, and Lesson Management

• Foster an environment conducive to outstanding learning and teaching.

• Define clear teaching objectives and outline methods for instruction and assessment.

• Design tasks that challenge students and maintain high levels of engagement.

• Establish demanding yet achievable expectations.

• Set clear targets that build on prior learning.

• Identify students with special educational needs or exceptional abilities.

• Provide structured lessons that maintain pace, motivation, and challenge.

• Utilize assessment effectively to ensure comprehensive coverage of study programs.

• Leverage performance data and key indicators to inform lesson planning and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to student needs.

• Ensure effective teaching practices and optimal use of available instructional time.

• Maintain a productive learning environment according to the academy's standards, promoting punctuality, behavior, quality of work, and homework completion.

• Employ a variety of teaching methods suited to the content, structure information, highlight key concepts, and utilize appropriate vocabulary.

• Utilize effective questioning strategies, actively listen to students, and address errors and misunderstandings.

• Choose suitable learning resources and enhance study skills through library, I.C.T., and other educational technologies.

• Ensure that students acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills, and understanding relevant to the subject matter.

• Reflect critically on one’s teaching practices to enhance effectiveness.

Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting

• Evaluate the achievement of learning objectives and utilize this information to refine specific aspects of teaching.

• Assess and monitor student work, setting targets for their progress.

• Use performance data to inform lesson planning, ensuring that learning and teaching consistently add value.

• Systematically assess and record students' progress, maintaining records to track understanding and completion of work while identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

• Conduct assessments as requested by examination boards and according to departmental and academy procedures.

• Prepare and deliver informative reports for parents.

Curriculum Development

• Engage in curriculum development within specific subjects or areas of the academy's work, establishing clear targets and success criteria for enhancement and/or maintenance.

• Participate in the academy’s visioning activities.

Other Professional Requirements

• Possess a working understanding of teachers’ professional responsibilities and legal obligations.

• Demonstrate expertise in relevant subject(s) or specialism(s) to facilitate effective teaching.

• Foster effective working relationships and exemplify outstanding personal and professional conduct.

• Strive to provide every child with the opportunity to reach their potential and meet high expectations.

• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure resource sharing and effective utilization for the benefit of the academy, department, and students.

• Participate in promotional and liaison events such as Open Evenings/Afternoons, Parent-Teacher Consultations, and activities with partner academies.

• Communicate effectively with parents.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field with a teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience

• At least 2 years of experience teaching a specialized subject up to GCSE and A Level is desirable but not essential.

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of volleyball, basketball, and athletics.

• Experience in delivering exam PE - Edexcel GCSE and A Level.

• Background in coaching and leading high-level sports teams.

• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.

• A strong passion for teaching and commitment to holistic education.

• A high degree of professionalism and awareness of children's well-being.

• Recent and ongoing involvement in extracurricular activities.

• Respect for all members of the school community, regardless of their position, gender, age, or ethnic background.

• A constructive and solution-oriented approach to professional life.

• A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police clearance.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
