Main Responsibilities:

• Create and implement departmental policies and practices that reflect the School's vision, objectives, commitment to high achievement standards, and effective teaching and learning.

• Establish, assess, and evaluate short, medium, and long-term development plans for the department.

• Utilize data effectively to identify underperforming students within the department; develop and enact action plans to assist those students.

• Analyze and interpret pertinent school data to guide policy-making and assist in writing the department's and school's SEF.

• Ensure that relevant and suitable schemes of work are created, maintained, and regularly reviewed for all year groups and courses, including appropriate provisions for SEN/POD, G&T, and EAL students.

• Guarantee curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression within the department for all students, including those of high ability and those with special educational needs.

• Set standards for staff concerning achievement levels, quality of teaching and learning, and student behavior.

• Assess the quality of teaching and learning within the department to identify effective practices and areas needing improvement, taking steps to enhance teaching and learning further.

• Ensure the department actively participates in the school's CAS Programme and after-school Booster/Revision Sessions for I/GCSE and IB DP courses.

• Manage the performance of the team in line with the school’s performance management policy.

• Deploy staff and resources efficiently and effectively.

• Maintain effective control over the Department's Resource and CapEx budgets.

• Utilize facilities effectively to foster a stimulating environment conducive to teaching and learning, adhering to the Learning Environment Policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject along with a PGCE or other teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience:

• At least 6 years of teaching experience.

• Familiarity with the UK curriculum.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
