MYP SCIENCE (CHEMISTRY) TEACHER- SNA IB HCMC - SCHOOL YEAR 2026-2027
About This Role
SNA-HCMC is seeking a qualified MYP Chemistry Teacher to begin in AUGUST 2026. Applicants should possess a minimum of 2 years of experience teaching the MYP. As we enhance our Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) program, involvement in these activities will be expected.
It is important for candidates to note that SNA-HCMC is a CIS member and fully accredited by WASC, placing a strong emphasis on safeguarding and child protection during the recruitment process. We adhere to the UN Convention on the Rights of The Child, and candidates must be able to provide appropriate background checks. If you do not already have these checks, we highly recommend utilizing the ISS-Schroles 'verify' facility, as applications will not be processed without these documents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Familiarize oneself with and strictly follow SNA school policies, practices, and procedures.
• Engage in professional and effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
• Promote and implement IB approaches to teaching and learning (ATL’s) in daily instruction.
• Assist students with the MYP/DP exhibition as applicable.
• Participate in collaborative meetings focused on grade-level, cross-curricular, and program development of the curriculum.
• Dedicate oneself to continuous personal professional development.
• Maintain regular communication and collaboration with department members regarding planning, assessments, parent and community interactions, subject organization, and classroom management issues, including behavior expectations and routines.
• Work with fellow colleagues to foster social and emotional awareness within the school community.
• Actively engage in behavioral management and provide pastoral care for homeroom and other class groups.
• Attend and contribute positively to staff meetings.
• Supervise student breaks as needed.
• Organize class activities as necessary.
• Keep accurate records of assessments, attendance, planning, reports, conferences, and parent communications through ManageBac and Classdojo/Seesaw.
• Build connections with the parent community to ensure they are well-informed about student progress.
• Serve as a resource and support for new staff members regarding curriculum, schedules, and procedures.
• Participate in and assist with school events as required and complete any additional tasks assigned by the Line Supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Science Education, along with a recognized teaching certificate; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 2 years of teaching experience in IB or international school environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of IB MYP/DP frameworks and inquiry-based learning methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to create and implement engaging, differentiated lessons for various learners.
• Strong skills in classroom management and student supervision.
• Proficient in integrating technology and digital tools into lesson plans.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
• Creative, collaborative, and proactive in engaging with school life and CCAs.
• Committed to child safeguarding and able to provide valid background checks.
• Willing to engage in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and student activities.
