Job Detail

South View School is on the lookout for a passionate Mathematics Teacher to join our expanding department. The successful applicant will have comprehensive subject knowledge, ideally up to A Level and Further Maths, while also understanding that the path to advanced achievement starts with a solid and engaging Key Stage 3 foundation.

Key Responsibilities


1. Excellence in Teaching & Learning


Provide exceptional Mathematics instruction that fosters both a profound conceptual grasp and a love for the subject in students.


Translate intricate mathematical ideas into accessible, engaging learning steps appropriate for the KS3 cognitive level.


Create a classroom atmosphere that challenges all learners, addressing the needs of those requiring additional support as well as high-achieving students.

2. Strategic Use of Data & Assessment


Utilize both formative and summative assessment data to track the progress of each cohort, ensuring all students are on course to reach or surpass their potential.


Implement timely interventions based on data analysis to prevent any student from falling behind during these vital foundational years.

3. High-Level Subject Expertise


Maintain an in-depth understanding of the curriculum up to A Level, allowing for effective "backward-planning" of the KS3 curriculum with utmost academic rigor.


Provide "stretch and challenge" opportunities for high-achieving KS3 students by introducing them to advanced reasoning and higher-order thinking skills early on.

4. Inclusion & Pastoral Support


Exhibit an expert understanding of supporting students with additional needs (SEND), ensuring a curriculum that is inclusive and accessible to all.


Employ strong pastoral skills to aid the social, emotional, and academic growth of students throughout the school.

5. Enrichment & Professional Development


Lead and engage in enrichment initiatives (such as Maths Challenges or STEM clubs) to enhance the visibility and appreciation of Mathematics throughout the school.
