About This Role

ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais is seeking responsible and committed Summer Camp Residential Monitors to support the wellbeing, safety and supervision of boarding and day students during the Summer Camp programme running from 24 June to 25 July 2026. Reporting directly to the Summer Camp Boarding Coordinator, the post-holder will play a key role in providing excellent pastoral care, supervising daily routines, supporting evening activities, and ensuring that all students are safe, supported and following school procedures at all times.

This role requires flexibility, teamwork and a strong commitment to safeguarding, with working hours including evenings, late duties, overnight supervision and on-call responsibilities during emergencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide excellent pastoral care, supporting students’ physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and maintaining appropriate discipline.

  • Ensure students follow all boarding and school procedures, including sign-in/out, meals, bedtime, medication and night-time routines.

  • Ensure students are never left unattended, including during offsite excursions.

  • Work closely with the Camp Director, Deputies and Boarding Coordinator, communicating any concerns immediately.

  • Chaperone students on offsite excursions, following all safety instructions.

  • Participate in evening activities and support social engagement.

  • Attend all staff meetings and mandatory training sessions prior to and during camp.

  • Take responsibility for materials used during activities and help keep all areas clean and tidy.

  • Be on call and respond appropriately in the event of incidents, fire, intruder alerts or other emergencies.

  • Support first aid and health-related matters alongside the Camp Director, Deputies and Nurse.

  • Support arrival and departure days, including welcoming families and assisting with airport transfers.

  • Work flexibly within a rota system, including late duties, overnight supervision and additional cover when required.

  • Follow all school policies, staff handbook guidelines and safeguarding procedures.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Advanced or Proficient English language skills (C1–C2 level required).

  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

  • Willingness to follow school procedures and maintain high professional standards of behaviour, hygiene and appearance.

  • Commitment to safeguarding, child safety and wellbeing.

  • Ability to remain calm, responsible and responsive in emergency situations.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, nights and varied shifts as part of a rota.

  • Valid permission to work in Portugal.

  • Criminal record certificate issued within the last three months.

  • CV with photograph, scanned copies of degrees and certificates, and two written references.

  • Availability to attend training dates and camp sessions from 24 June to 25 July 2026.

Compensation

449 € - 450 € per week (• Salary: Euros 1800 gross for the whole period. • Included: accommodation, meals, accident insurance • Day Off: one full day and one night off per week)
