Home School Link Worker Millbrook & Charlton Primary Schools

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and highly skilled Home School Link Worker to join our team, working across Millbrook and Charlton Primary Schools.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about making a difference to children and families and who understands that sometimes, with the right support at the right time, a family can overcome challenges and achieve positive change.

As our Home School Link Worker, you will build positive, trusting relationships with children, parents and carers, helping families to access the support they need and ensuring that children are able to engage positively with school.

A key focus of the role will be improving attendance and reducing barriers to children’s success in school. You will work preventatively with families, providing early intervention, practical support, guidance and signposting, particularly at times of change, difficulty or stress.

You will work closely with school staff and external agencies, helping to coordinate effective support around children and families. This will include contributing to Early Help, attending Team Around the Family meetings, supporting Children in Need and Child Protection processes, making appropriate referrals and undertaking home visits where required.

You will also:

• Develop strong, positive relationships between home and school.
• Support families to improve attendance and punctuality.
• Provide practical and emotional support to children and families.
• Help parents develop positive strategies around behaviour and parenting.
• Support children to develop confidence, wellbeing and self-esteem.
• Act as the school lead for Young Carers.
• Work closely with external agencies and community services.
• Maintain accurate records and monitor the impact of interventions.
• Contribute to safeguarding and become a Designated Safeguarding Lead within the school's safeguarding team.
• Participate in supervision, training and continuing professional development.

You will need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team, using your initiative while recognising when further advice, support or escalation is required.
