About This Role

* Advocate for and embody the principles and standards of excellence outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
* Provide instruction in the required curriculum, showcasing thorough and current knowledge of the subject matter.
* Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing suitable materials and classroom setups to accommodate various learning styles.
* Maintain written documentation of lesson planning and preparation as needed. Keep accurate records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more.
* Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
* Tailor teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students, including late entrants, ESL learners, those with lower academic abilities, and gifted students.
* Assign and evaluate work. Assess, document, and report on students' academic growth, progress, and achievements, utilizing assessments to ensure the curriculum aligns with each student's needs.
* Exhibit proficiency in using media and technology effectively within the classroom.
* Support the overall progress and well-being of students, providing guidance on educational matters.
* Engage with external parties when necessary (e.g., Ministry of Education officials).
* Take part in appraisal processes, Performance Management systems, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop teaching materials, resources, courses of study, and pastoral arrangements.
* Participate in, and lead when appropriate, co-curricular and extracurricular activities within the school. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.
* Oversee and promote safe and appropriate student behavior. Develop and implement strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive conduct.
* Exemplify and promote cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a passion for learning.
* Assist in organizing and planning school events and functions, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.
* Maintain regular communication with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep them informed of their children's progress while ensuring the confidentiality of student information.
* Demonstrate commitment by putting forth extra effort beyond the typical workday when necessary for specific tasks.

Compensation

£35,000 - £55,000 (Tax-Free Equivalent)
