About This Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students in the English department, specifically focusing on A Level and IGCSE English courses.
  • All faculty are expected to engage in co-curricular activities and pastoral responsibilities, which includes overseeing boarders during their homework sessions approximately once every three weeks. This role also entails serving as a Pastoral Tutor for the Senior School.
  • Maintain assessment records and prepare reports, ensuring effective communication with parents when necessary.
  • Be available to assist with recruitment and marketing efforts as needed.
  • Always prioritize student well-being by:
    • Actively participating in one of the School’s Houses and engaging in related activities.
    • Following the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
    • Communicating with the Senior Leadership Team and parents as needed.
    • Responsibly fulfilling evening boarding supervision duties in accordance with the School’s policies (typically once every two or three weeks).
  • Engage actively in the School’s co-curricular programs through activities and clubs, which include:
    • sports
    • arts
    • academic enrichment
    • outdoor pursuits
  • Take on additional relevant responsibilities as delegated by the School’s Leadership Team, such as:
    • working with marketing and admissions initiatives
    • attending staff meetings and professional development workshops
    • participating in all-school events like Foundation Day
    • serving on school committees
  • Complete any other related and reasonable tasks as assigned by the School’s Leadership Team.

  • Ideal candidates should:
    • hold a degree in English
    • possess a teaching qualification along with relevant teaching experience
    • be passionate about education
    • demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
    • be able to collaborate effectively as part of a team
    • exhibit strong organizational and efficiency skills
    • show a willingness to participate in broader school activities
    • communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a high proficiency in English
    • have a genuine love for reading
    • be empathetic and supportive of students’ emotional and developmental needs.
