Job Title: EAP Teacher

Job Overview

Teach students English for Academic Purposes, preparing them for their future University degree programs.

Key Responsibilities

Student Learning Experience


Facilitate lessons that focus on essential academic skills, including reading comprehension, critical thinking, note-taking, and academic writing.


Guide and support students in improving their research skills and participating in academic discussions.


Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and support staff to provide comprehensive assistance to students.


Deliver individualized academic and language support to students facing challenges.


Plan and conduct in-person seminars, tutorials, and instructional sessions.


Develop and update course materials, schemes of work, and lesson plans based on student requirements.


Create, administer, and assess formative and summative evaluations, supplying prompt feedback.


Continuously communicate student progress and academic insights to relevant parties.


Establish and maintain appropriate classroom behavior expectations.


Provide academic and pastoral support to international students, including advice on study skills and university standards.


Manage administrative tasks and record-keeping related to teaching and assessments.


Contribute to the development and implementation of modules and courses, stepping in for colleagues when necessary.


Participate in social initiatives and extracurricular activities associated with teaching.


Engage in orientation, briefing sessions, and quality assurance evaluations.


Act as a positive ambassador for the institution while collaborating with management and taking part in professional development opportunities.

Quality and Standards Assurance and Enhancement


Apply quality assurance measures at the module and teaching session levels and assist in annual course review and monitoring.


Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance and performance.


Attend and contribute to standardization, moderation, and other quality assurance meetings.

Academic Management


Take part in regular meetings with teaching and support staff to promote effective program and student lifecycle management.


Keep and submit accurate and timely records of teaching and related activities.


Carry out any additional tasks assigned by academic managers as required.

Qualifications and Experience


Bachelor's / Master's Degree in a relevant field along with Teacher Qualification Status (TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, English, etc.) (Essential)


An appropriate academic qualification at the UK graduate level (Essential).


Relevant teaching experience (Essential). Generally, a minimum of two years, preferably related to delivering a Western-style syllabus using Western methodologies. Significant experience in teaching or qualification management at a respected university may also be acceptable.


A recognized teaching qualification in EAP subject (Desirable).


Demonstrated ability to contribute to integrated teaching across various subjects (Essential).


Familiarity with UK/western higher education and the unique needs of international students (Essential).


Direct experience in further and higher education within an international context (Essential).


Experience in developing academic qualifications (Desirable).


Knowledge of academic assessment standards and quality assurance processes (Desirable).


Experience in teaching English as a second language (Essential for EAP).


An understanding and appreciation of private sector education (Desirable).


Experience of living and working in Asia (Desirable).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
