Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
• A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in, Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers lacking a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not required to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a dedication to community-centered education are appreciated.
Language and Cultural Assets
• Proficiency in Inuktitut (verbal and written)
• Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
• Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL settings
• Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canada educational contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
• Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
• Training or experience related to evidence-based literacy development
• Familiarity with current assessment methods to inform learning
• Experience in fostering a positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management practices (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
• Proven ability to build respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
• Experience in promoting student wellbeing and engagement
• Involvement with students outside the classroom, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
• Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student supports
• Ability to work as a cooperative member of a school team

Compensation and Benefits
• Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
• Nunavut Northern Allowance for Qikiqtarjuaq, Nunavut: $22,638
• Subsidized Housing: Staff housing is available, though sharing may be necessary.

Conditions of Employment
• Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
• Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
