Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
• A valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Teachers educated internationally without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not required to fulfill every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to education focused on community are highly regarded.
Language and Cultural Assets
• Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
• Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
• Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL settings
• Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian educational contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
• Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
• Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
• Familiarity with current assessment methods to inform learning
• Experience creating a positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
• Proven track record of building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members
• Experience fostering student wellbeing and engagement
• Involvement with students beyond classroom activities, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
• Experience in collaborative planning for instruction and student support
• Ability to work as part of a school team collaboratively
• Engagement in learning and contributing within a shared community-focused environment

Compensation and benefits
• Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (dependent on experience)
• Nunavut Northern Allowance for Qikiqtarjuaq, Nunavut: $22,638
• Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
• Applicants currently employed by the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
• Applicants from outside Nunavut are required to provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
