Our educational framework empowers students to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities within well-equipped, bright, and technology-enhanced learning spaces. We are currently looking for a Mandarin teacher to add to our On-Call roster for the 2025/26 academic year.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
ā Serve as a teacher-on-call for Grades 8 - 12
ā Leave comprehensive notes for the regular teacher after each assignment
ā Assist in supervising students during non-instructional periods
ā Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and support staff as needed
ā Offer tailored instruction and learning assistance for individual students as necessary
ā Engage in co-curricular activities and clubs as required
ā Familiarize yourself with and implement all health and safety protocols
ā Undertake other assigned duties as needed
Qualifications:
ā Essential: B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification qualification criteria
ā Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a focus on Mandarin and qualifications for teaching at intermediate and senior levels
ā Previous experience as a Mandarin Teacher at the senior school level
ā Thorough understanding of contemporary educational practices as outlined by the BC Ministry of Education
ā Familiarity with resources such as Chinese Made Easy, QTalk, and Ponddy is a plus
ā Experience in an independent school setting is advantageous
ā Awareness of the diverse learning styles of girls and young women
ā Collaborative, energetic, and passionate about teaching
ā Dedicated to the profession of teaching, embracing best practices and professional standards
ā Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities
ā Legally authorized to work in Canada
