About This Role

We are seeking a motivated Administrative Officer to become part of our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Operations Manager and the broader Operations team, playing an essential part in delivering an effective support service for our teaching staff and leadership team.

Unsworth Academy is a vibrant, popular, co-educational high school in Bury, currently oversubscribed and non-selective. The school is on an exciting journey of improvement, as highlighted in our latest Ofsted report from April 2025, which praised our efforts and indicated an outstanding judgment had it been a graded inspection.

In September 2025, we launched a new three-year development initiative called ‘Exemplary Unsworth 2028’. This plan will steer us toward an even higher caliber of provision for the wonderful community of Unsworth.

At Unsworth Academy, our mission is to enhance both the academic and character development of learners, enabling them to positively influence the communities they are a part of. We are proudly ambitious, cultivating a culture focused on personal responsibility, comprehensive development, and community strength.

Join Shaw Education Trust – Support, Teach, Lead… Make the Remarkable Happen.

At Shaw Education Trust, we believe that every role has the potential to change a life. Whether you are working behind the scenes, inspiring in the classroom, or leading with vision, you will be part of something truly exceptional.

We are a progressive and expanding family of Primary, Secondary, and Special Schools, serving communities from Birmingham to Bury. Our mission is to create opportunities for every young person, regardless of their background, abilities, or starting points.

Our people are our greatest asset, and we are dedicated to their development. Through high-quality training, apprenticeships, talent acceleration, and research opportunities, we empower our staff to thrive as skilled and confident professionals. We promote wellbeing, value every voice, and foster a culture where you feel supported, motivated, and inspired to make a meaningful impact.

You will be part of a collaborative network of schools where shared expertise and a professional community drive success. Each academy within our Trust has an equal voice, and every colleague plays a crucial role in crafting personalized learning experiences that elevate aspirations and create brighter futures.

At the core of our work lies a profound respect for the children and young adults we serve—our “precious cargo.” We take pride in being “exactly like nothing else,” bridging the gap between education and the outside world, and preparing every student for further education, employment, or training in inclusive environments where integrity, equality, and opportunity thrive.

If you possess the heart, passion, and determination to help shape lives and forge promising futures, we would be delighted for you to join our outstanding team.

Support. Teach. Lead. Belong. Thrive.

Together, let’s make the remarkable happen.

In our secondary schools, we take pride in our innovative curriculum design, ensuring that all our schools provide breadth and ambition for every student, regardless of their starting points and challenges. Standard curriculum models do not always engage all students, so we continuously strive to innovate and enhance opportunities to develop both knowledge and essential life skills. We want our students to view their curriculum as bold, exciting, purposeful, and ultimately meaningful. Some of our innovative approaches include extending the school day to offer a world-class enrichment program and greater opportunities for essential skills like reading and cultural capital. We are also introducing vocational and technical pathways that integrate with the normal school curriculum, receiving support from leading employers and universities to foster work-readiness, enabling students to progress to T Levels and apprenticeships.

Our secondary schools are currently championing ‘PedTech’ throughout the sector: we firmly believe that teaching and technology should complement each other, and we are passionately committed to providing a fully digitally enhanced curriculum. We are nearing full 1:1 device delivery and are making strides towards improved use of iPads in lessons to enrich the learning experience.
