Position Available: Secondary School Mathematics Teacher

We are currently looking for a mathematics teacher who can instruct IGCSE and A Level Mathematics, including Further Mathematics. The successful candidate must be capable of teaching A Level Mechanics and Further Mathematics, with a proven history of success, starting on Friday, August 21, 2026.

Romania stands out as one of the most appealing countries in Europe for both living and working. The Romanian people are known for their warmth and hospitality, with many being well-educated and fluent in multiple languages, including English.

The country experiences four distinct seasons and boasts stunning beaches, Europe’s last remaining mountain wilderness, and a variety of ski resorts just over 90 minutes from Bucharest. Visitors can explore charming old towns with cobblestone streets, a rich array of castles and monasteries, and enjoy more sunny days than rainy ones. Notably, King Charles III has two residences in Romania, citing it as one of his preferred destinations—being the first country he visited following his coronation.

Romania’s central location within the EU allows for affordable flights, with airlines such as Ryanair and Wizzair offering routes to major cities for under 100 euros if booked in advance, including return flights to the UK. Additionally, teachers can typically save a significant portion of their salary, often more than in other Mediterranean countries like Spain, Italy, or Greece.

Life in Bucharest

The capital city is a safe and clean environment for living and working, featuring an efficient public transportation system, including metro and tram services, with a monthly pass costing around 20 euros (students ride for free). The city is safe for evening strolls and offers ample weekend activities. Shopping malls throughout Bucharest feature Western brands and restaurants at prices considerably lower than those in Western Europe, allowing for a more comfortable lifestyle.

International educators earn 2-3 times the average salary, making it easier to save. Dining out is affordable, with a typical two-course meal and a drink costing around 15 euros, which is why many of our international staff enjoy eating out weekly.

Moreover, it is feasible for teachers to purchase their own apartments by the end of their first contract, as many staff have successfully done.

Teaching at IBSB

Students at IBSB generally demonstrate above-average academic abilities and exhibit good behavior, making the teaching experience enjoyable. HPL World Class School

We completed our two-year HPL journey in June 2022 and will undergo re-accreditation in June 2025. We are proud to be the only accredited HPL World Class School in Eastern Europe, and our campus has expanded significantly in recent years. UCL Partner School

As the sole UCL partner school in Romania and Eastern Europe, we offer NPQ courses to our staff and the broader community. Several staff members are currently enrolled in NPQSL and NPQLT courses. In the 2025-26 academic year, we will offer NPQLT, NPQEYL, NPQSL, NPQSENCO, and NPQH courses. IBSB allocates a generous CPD budget to keep our staff at the forefront of educational practices, providing access to Educare courses, National College Courses, HMC courses, Cambridge courses, and Edexcel Courses.

Requirements:

- Degree and QTS
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in Further Mathematics
- Familiarity with the Curriculum of England and CAIE Subject
- Proficiency in English
- Clear ICPC Check/Police Report
- EU passport holder (preferred)
- Three positive references from previous schools covering the last 5 years of teaching
