About This Role

Metropolitan School Frankfurt is an authentic international school and preschool with roots in Germany. We deliver our curriculum in English, facilitated by university-qualified native speakers, providing all-day education to over 750 students from 55 different nations.

Our high-quality international curriculum cultivates responsible, well-rounded, and lifelong learners equipped with inquisitive minds and robust academic abilities, ready to influence the future of our evolving world.

At Metropolitan School Frankfurt gGmbH (MSF), our educators and staff are expected to foster positive relationships with students, serving as exemplary role models for youth, in alignment with both the school's and the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) philosophies. They should embody the values and attitudes encouraged by MSF and IBO.

We are currently seeking a University Guidance Counsellor for a full-time position. This role involves coordinating the Grade 10 Work Experience program and instructing our UniG class, which convenes weekly for grades 10 through 12. Ideal candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, have a minimum of two years of relevant experience, possess excellent communication skills, and maintain a sense of humor. Experience with UCAS or European university application procedures would be particularly valuable. A genuine enthusiasm for working with Secondary School students is essential for this role.

Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate their ability to motivate students, deliver exceptional lessons, and enhance the overall morale of the school community, including staff and parents.

Key responsibilities of the University Guidance Counsellor include:

- Collaborating with the Secondary School Principal to design a university guidance program for students and their families.
- Ensuring that students actively participate in the development of their university choices.
- Engaging with all students in Grades 10-12 to create a meaningful academic and personal profile for each individual.
- Leading collaborative professional learning for staff regarding the university admissions process.
- Researching and effectively communicating university guidance policies to the entire school community.
- Preparing and distributing school transcripts as necessary and writing supportive, professional college references when requested.
- Regularly communicating with parents through workshops, information sessions, newsletters, and individual meetings to keep the community informed about university guidance and university expectations.
- Analyzing student performance data in collaboration with the IGCSE and IB Team, taking appropriate actions to support effective university guidance.
- Maintaining and appropriately sharing a comprehensive record of university applications and outcomes.

In addition to strong listening and speaking skills, you will need to coordinate effectively with others, negotiate, instruct, and persuade. This skill set will enhance your interactions with students, colleagues, and members of other departments within the organization.

We offer an attractive salary, financial support for relocation, assistance with flights and the visa process, and the chance to work in a vibrant and friendly environment with opportunities for both internal and external professional development.

To apply, please submit a complete application including a cover letter, CV, and a recent photograph to careers@m-school.de.
