Professionalism

Job Specification:

Teaching and Learning
- Demonstrate expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in delivering age-appropriate pedagogy.
- Plan and implement the agreed-upon curriculum effectively.
- Develop lessons and units of work with well-defined learning objectives.
- Clearly communicate learning objectives to students in a logical and age-appropriate manner.
- Address the diverse learning needs of all students, including late entrants, language learners, and those with varying academic abilities.
- Continuously assess and adjust planning to build on current and prior achievements.
- Seek opportunities within the curriculum for hands-on experiences and utilize a variety of instructional resources rather than relying solely on textbooks.
- Monitor and manage each child's progress, ensuring all assessments, marking, and class records are current.
- Provide timely feedback on assignments, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
- Utilize assessments strategically to establish realistic and challenging improvement targets and inform future teaching.
- Employ effective questioning and explanations to facilitate maximum student progress.
- Maintain consistently high expectations for student behavior and attitudes toward learning.
- Reflect on personal and peer practices through observation and discussions to enhance understanding of effective teaching methods.
- Exhibit competence and confidence in using media and technology.
- Acknowledge the significance of the after-school program and extracurricular activities, actively participating as directed.

Pastoral

- Support a consistent approach to the implementation of the School Guiding Statements.
- Fulfill professional duties of care by adhering to school policies regarding student behavior and discipline at all times, whether in class, during assigned duties, break times, or other interactions with IAA students.
- Prioritize student safety at all times.
- Practice vigilant safeguarding and duty of care toward students.
- Develop and implement strategies that promote student self-discipline, reinforce positive behavior, and manage disruptive conduct.
- Celebrate students' achievements both in school and beyond.
- Respond sensitively to students, ensuring concerns are addressed professionally and promptly.
- Serve as a tutor or class teacher as required by assigned roles, delivering relevant curricula (e.g., PSHE).

Professional Development

- Engage in the school's self-evaluation processes, providing constructive feedback as needed.
- Participate actively in the school’s Staff Development Network through activities such as action research, in-service training, lesson observations, professional writing, and curriculum development.
- Contribute fully to staff initiatives and meetings.
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues by actively sharing ideas, materials, and expertise.
- Reflect on personal practice and remain open to professional feedback from peers.
- Stay informed about developments in pedagogy.

Learning Environment

- Create a safe, stimulating, and inviting learning environment, regularly updating displays to showcase students' learning and achievements.
- Seek opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom.
- Prepare additional resources to enhance existing materials and support differentiation.
- Manage and maintain the effective use of equipment and learning resources responsibly, ensuring their prompt return.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:

- Bachelor’s or undergraduate degree with a teaching focus, or completion of a teacher preparation program, or a degree in a relevant academic subject from an accredited institution or Board as required by the position.
- Certification in teaching from a recognized institution and/or Board.
- Police clearance to work with children and in school settings.
- Strong communication skills in the language(s) of instruction.
- Good interpersonal skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to supervise students in non-classroom environments.
- Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

- Advanced degree in education or a related subject area.
- Experience in an internationally accredited school or a national/state school in an English-speaking country.
- Experience and certification in teaching the school’s programs.
- Strong English communication skills (if not the language of instruction).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
