About BASIS International School Shenzhen

Founded in 2015, BASIS International School Shenzhen was the first in our network. Initially located in a renovated building, the school relocated in 2023 to a stunning new campus designed for over 1,600 students in Grades Pre-K – 12, featuring cutting-edge facilities for the performing and visual arts, athletics, and sciences, along with beautiful outdoor spaces and gardens. The campus is conveniently situated near the best of Shenzhen, offering a diverse array of dining, shopping, and easy access to Hong Kong and Guangzhou via a short ferry or train ride.

The Vice Head of Division of High School is an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team, collaborating closely with school administrators and reporting directly to the Head of School. This role's primary focus includes developing secondary education programs, coaching student development, managing student behavior, and facilitating social integration.

The Vice Head of Division of High School will directly oversee Teachers, Teaching Fellows, and the Dean of Secondary School (as applicable).

Responsibilities:

• Oversee secondary school academic programs that assist students with social integration challenges in and out of the classroom

• Establish protocols for handling severe behavioral incidents

• Monitor communications with parents

• Manage parental expectations

• Promote students’ social-emotional growth

• Uphold School Routines and Code of Conduct

• Provide support to teachers regarding student behavior management

• Engage with parents as needed to collaborate on student behavior issues

• Maintain documentation of student discipline

• Work with the Director of Student Affairs and Director of Academic Programs to coordinate academic support programs

• Assist teachers with parental communication regarding various concerns

• Foster a nurturing and achievement-focused school culture (define school-wide behavior standards, manage social-emotional curriculum and character program, etc.)

• Set routines for common areas within the school (recess, lunch, hallways, Early Bird/Late Bird)

• Offer support and guidance to Teaching Fellows

• Oversee student arrival and dismissal procedures

What We're Seeking

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Secondary Education, or a closely related field.

• 3-5 years of leadership experience in a high school setting.

• Proven strength in administrative roles.

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both oral and written).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
