About This Role

Northview International School (NVIS) is seeking a committed and student-oriented Middle/High School Social Studies Teacher to join our growing international faculty in Doha, Qatar.

We are looking for an educator who is passionate about delivering meaningful learning experiences, while fostering critical thinking, global awareness, and civic understanding through the study of history, geography, government, and contemporary global issues.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Social Studies to middle and high school students, providing interactive lessons that adhere to the American curriculum framework and deepen students' understanding of historical and global contexts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and executing engaging Social Studies lessons consistent with the American curriculum
  • Utilizing student-centered teaching strategies that encourage inquiry, discussion, and critical analysis
  • Integrating technology and diverse resources to promote active learning
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress through formative and summative evaluations
  • Fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel both supported and challenged
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curriculum design and instructional practices
  • Engaging in the broader school community through extracurricular activities and initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies, Political Science, or a related field
  • A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching Social Studies at the Middle School and/or High School levels
  • Familiarity with or training in an American curriculum framework
  • A dedication to student-centered learning and inquiry-driven instruction
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Experience in an international educational setting is preferred, but not required.
