Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and committed Educator to join our team. The perfect candidate will play a crucial role in creating and implementing educational programs that respect diversity, promote equity, and celebrate the vibrant cultural heritage of our community. This position requires a deep commitment to indigenization, an emphasis on a competency-based curriculum, and a creative approach to land-based education.
Responsibilities:
- Course Development: Collaborate with fellow educators, Elders, and community partners to design and execute a competency-based curriculum rooted in Indigenous knowledge and values.
- Cultural Inclusion: Foster a classroom environment that respects and incorporates diverse Indigenous perspectives, ensuring that the curriculum reflects the local Indigenous culture.
- Equity and Inclusion: Initiate and implement strategies that promote equity and inclusion within the school community, addressing disparities and cultivating a sense of belonging for all students.
- Community Engagement: Serve as a liaison between the school and the wider community, actively seeking collaboration, input, and feedback to continuously improve educational programs.
- Land-Based Education: Create and integrate land-based learning experiences into the curriculum, deepening students' connection to the land and traditional practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Education
- Eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate

- Knowledge of Inclusive Schooling practices in the Northwest Territories.
- Understanding of land-based education principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
