Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers who lack a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)
- Language Component: Inuktitut

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not fulfill every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education will be highly regarded.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (verbal and written)
- Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
- Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL settings
- Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian teaching environments

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Proficiency in differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with current assessment strategies to inform learning
- Experience in establishing a positive classroom environment through effective management techniques (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven ability to build respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience promoting student wellbeing and engagement
- Involvement in student engagement beyond academics, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaborative planning for instruction and student support
- Ability to work as part of a school team in a collaborative manner
- Experience contributing to a shared, community-focused environment

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Pangnirtung, Nunavut: $19,077
- Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be necessary

Conditions of Employment
- Applicants currently working for the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction as per the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
