About This Role

GSSD is seeking applications for the position of Indigenous Student Success Lead at Kamsack Comprehensive Institute. We are dedicated to delivering an equitable educational experience that encompasses Indigenous knowledge systems, cultures, and languages, reflected in our environments, policies, and procedures. Our main goal is to cultivate a respectful learning atmosphere that promotes student success and well-being across our 27 public schools located in East-Central Saskatchewan. This position will concentrate on:
- Educational Leadership
- Enhancing teacher capacity to boost student engagement through culturally relevant teaching methods.
- Understanding current educational programs and curricula, as well as how these connect across different subjects and grade levels.
- Accessing, sharing, and promoting diverse instructional and assessment strategies, resources, and technologies that support Indigenous students and traditional knowledge.
- Analyzing specific school assessment data to formulate and propose targeted strategies aimed at improving Indigenous student performance.
- Aiding in the planning and implementation of instruction and assessment, including professional development and learning communities.
- Supporting the transition of FNMI students from elementary to high school and from high school to post-secondary education or the workforce.
- Collaborating closely with the Indigenous Community Worker to celebrate and acknowledge cultural events within the school.

The ideal candidate will possess the following leadership skills, knowledge, abilities, and educational qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Education
- Must hold or be eligible for a Saskatchewan Professional A Teaching Certificate

Experience and understanding of:
- Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
- Working with Indigenous students and families
- Collaborating with Elders
- A profound understanding of Indigenous Culture
- Familiarity with community programs and various social, physical, and mental support services available in the community.

Salary & Benefits: In alignment with the existing Saskatchewan Provincial Collective Bargaining Agreement. This role is designated for qualified equity group members who self-declare in this online application, as outlined in "diversity groups" below.

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
