Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not expected to fulfill every qualification; relevant experience and a dedication to community-centered education are highly regarded.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience in supporting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Teaching experience in bilingual or ESL settings
- Background in cross-cultural or northern Canada teaching contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with current assessment methods to inform learning
- Ability to foster a positive learning environment using effective classroom management practices (e.g. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven experience in building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Engagement in promoting student wellbeing and involvement
- Experience interacting with students outside the classroom as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and support for students
- Contribution as part of a school team in a collaborative manner
- Participation in a shared, community-focused learning environment

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Kimmirut, Nunavut: $19,122
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut are required to submit a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction as acknowledged by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications missing this documentation will not be considered.
