Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not required to fulfill all qualifications; relevant experience and a dedication to community-focused education are highly valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written).
- Experience in implementing Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education.
- Background in teaching within a bilingual or ESL context.
- Experience teaching in cross-cultural or Northern Canadian settings.

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices.
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy enhancement.
- Familiarity with current assessment methods to inform learning.
- Experience in fostering a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports).

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven ability to cultivate respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Experience in promoting student well-being and engagement.
- Involvement with students beyond the classroom setting, as appropriate.

- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student supports.
- Ability to work as part of a school team in a collaborative manner.

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Igloolik, Nunavut: $22,579
- Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be required.

Conditions of Employment
- Applicants currently working with the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Candidates from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
