About This Role

Anton Bruckner International School is in search of a skilled, adaptable, and dedicated PYP Learning Support Teacher to commence in September 2026. The ideal candidate should possess a recognized teaching qualification in learning support or a related field. The primary role of the Learning Support Teacher is to assist students with specific learning needs through the development of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), targeted interventions, and support within the classroom. This position involves working closely with educators and school leadership to enhance inclusive practices and further the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) within the IB PYP framework.

Skills and Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)


Recognized teaching qualification from the home country


Minimum of two years of relevant experience


Experience in supporting children with diverse learning needs in various settings


Commitment to ongoing professional development in IB and other areas


Willingness to foster a developing school environment, supporting staff and students alike


Essential experience in an international school; IB experience is a plus


Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion


Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is desirable


High proficiency in both spoken and written English; knowledge of German is preferred


Ability to provide a criminal background check


Possess a positive, collaborative, and approachable interpersonal style

Key Responsibilities

Learning Support and Student Intervention

The Learning Support Teacher is responsible for:


Delivering targeted assistance through in-class support, small group work, and short-term individual interventions


Leading sessions outside of the classroom (1:1 and small group) as appropriate


Collaborating with professionals to assess and identify student needs


Planning and preparing resources for intervention sessions


Helping students build skills in attention, behavior, motivation, and self-management in accordance with ILPs


Providing in-class support to ensure access to the curriculum


Identifying students who may benefit from additional instruction and offering support for set time frames


Working with teachers to create differentiated, modified, and scaffolded learning experiences and assessments


Observing students and giving feedback on their progress and learning needs


Using formative assessments to guide interventions and track student progress


Contributing to the creation, implementation, and review of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)


Keeping clear and relevant documentation regarding student support and progress


Reviewing and modifying support based on student advancements, ensuring targeted and time-sensitive interventions

Inclusive Practice

The Learning Support Teacher will:


Aid in implementing inclusive teaching practices, such as UDL principles, to enhance access and engagement for all learners


Collaborate with teachers to eliminate barriers to learning through flexible and responsive methodologies


Help develop learning environments that celebrate the diversity of learners

Collaboration and Advisory Role

The Learning Support Teacher is expected to:


Work closely with classroom teachers to enhance student learning


Provide guidance and support to teachers and teaching assistants in applying effective strategies for diverse learners


Communicate with parents and external professionals as needed


Be an active participant in collaborative teams


Share relevant information with staff to bolster student progress


Assist in enhancing staff capabilities in inclusive practices through modeling, coaching, and dialogue

Teaching and Learning

The Learning Support Teacher will:


Support curriculum delivery through inquiry-based and concept-driven teaching methods


Integrate IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills into support sessions


Encourage the development of the IB Learner Profile attributes, especially concerning student agency and self-management


Collaborate on planning to ensure accessibility for all learners


Provide feedback to foster student progress

Safeguarding and Student Wellbeing

The Learning Support Teacher will:


Uphold and contribute to the safeguarding and child protection policies of the school


Identify and report concerns regarding student wellbeing


Collaborate with the School Counselor and leadership to provide support for at-risk students


Maintain confidentiality in accordance with safeguarding protocols.

Professional Responsibilities

The Learning Support Teacher is expected to:


Reflect on their practice effectiveness


Engage in collaborative planning and professional discussions


Maintain clear and up-to-date records


Effectively communicate with all stakeholders


Foster professional relationships with students, parents, and staff


Pursue ongoing professional development


Contribute to the growth of the school


Collaborate with the Learning Support team, School Counselor, and leadership to ensure a coordinated approach to student support

General Responsibilities

The Learning Support Teacher is expected to:


Participate in school and community activities


Perform duties as assigned by the Principal within the role's scope

Compensation

3520 € - 6255 € per month (Pay scale based on experience)
