About This Role

Scope:

Teaching & Curriculum Development

- Collaborate with fellow subject team members to create and implement Mingwan's unique music curriculum, grounded in national curriculum standards, international counterparts, and the IB curriculum framework. This program is tailored to the developmental needs of elementary and middle school students, aiming to enhance their musical interest, literacy, and appreciation.

- Develop a comprehensive assessment framework to evaluate students based on their competencies. Regularly communicate with parents regarding their children's progress in music skills.

- Work alongside team members to plan, organize, and execute music-related events and performances, nurturing a lively musical environment on campus. Engage in or lead interdisciplinary activities or project-based learning initiatives that allow students to apply their musical abilities and experience music in real-world contexts.

- Participate in music teaching and research activities, sharing teaching insights and recommending curriculum improvements.

- Dedicate yourself to ongoing professional development and stay updated on new teaching methods, introducing innovative strategies to elevate the school's music education program.

Elective Courses, After-School Programs, and Music Club Organization and Scheduling

- Collaborate with the Music Department Director to develop plans and strategies for elective courses, after-school initiatives, and music clubs, taking into account the school's curriculum goals, student interest surveys, and parent needs.

- Engage in curriculum design to ensure alignment with regular courses, while providing enrichment opportunities.

- Aid in coordinating and managing external professional instructors, outlining teaching requirements and schedules, and overseeing the quality of instruction.

- Work with the Music Department Director to coordinate classroom and equipment usage, avoiding scheduling conflicts.

- Help organize and plan showcase performances for after-school programs, including the design of processes and arrangements.

Music Department Administration and Collaboration

- Oversee the music classroom and equipment room, conducting regular checks and maintenance of instruments and equipment.

- Organize teaching materials within the department, categorizing and archiving documents, while assisting in the completion of annual teaching summaries.

- Support the music performance needs for major school events, encompassing program planning, rehearsals, and execution on-site.

Skills and Qualifications:

- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music or a related field, alongside a valid Music teaching license.
- A minimum of 5 years of music teaching experience in primary and secondary education, with a background in international music education. Strong foundation in music theory, experience with international music curricula, and a background in leading performance groups. Exceptional personal accompaniment and solo performance skills are necessary, with a preference for piano majors.

- Familiarity with both international and Chinese curricula, including international immersion programs. Proficiency in teaching solely in English is required.
- Capability to design engaging lesson plans that integrate music, drama, dance, and other performance art forms.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and students.

Compensation

$52,440 - $75,430 per year (In additional to the salary, an extra benefit package will be provided)
