Australian International School Hong Kong is a distinguished institution focused on delivering high-quality Australian curriculum education within a supportive and vibrant setting. We are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated Secondary Teacher - English to start with us in July 2026, with a minor allocation of drama teaching responsibilities across secondary year levels.

Role Responsibilities:

The Secondary Teacher will:

• Teach the NSW curriculum and/or the International Baccalaureate Diploma curriculum as necessary.

• Collaborate with staff teams to optimize student learning experiences.

• Actively engage in the school’s extracurricular offerings.

• Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.

• Contribute positively to the school’s culture and ethos.

Essential Qualifications:

• A qualified teacher with advanced credentials in the relevant subject area(s).

• Ability to design and implement programs that are inclusive of second language learners. Supporting EAL students necessitates recognized qualifications.

• Capacity to educate students from varied backgrounds.

• Proficient ICT skills with the ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning effectively.

• Knowledge and expertise in delivering an outcomes-based curriculum.

• Strong communication skills to engage with diverse groups, including colleagues, parents, students, and the wider community.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within both small and large teams.

• Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.

• Ethical behavior, a positive attitude, a growth mindset, and a commitment to continuous professional development that supports the school’s ethos and community life.

• A passionate and knowledgeable educator dedicated to well-being practices and positive psychology in education (i.e., PROSPER).

General Teaching Duties:

The Secondary Teacher (Years 7-12) will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:

• Developing and documenting effective teaching and learning plans.

• Keeping precise and complete records of class attendance and data.

• Conducting regular and appropriate assessments.

• Providing consistent and constructive feedback to students.

• Supporting the academic, social-emotional, and physical development of all students.

• Engaging in and contributing to the school’s Wellbeing programs for both students and staff.

• Effectively addressing the diverse abilities within each class.

• Striving to foster a high level of student morale and school spirit.

• Participating in the co-curricular activities of the school, which may include:

• Extra-curricular/after-school activities/sports

• School camps

• Performance/public events

• Outreach, service, and community initiatives

• Parent functions

• School publications

• Communicating with parents regarding student progress, including parent/teacher conferences.

• Maintaining classroom and public display areas for both educational and aesthetic purposes.

• Completing assigned duties as required.

• Collaborating with the Head of Secondary, Deputy Heads of Secondary, Heads of Department, Directors, and school administration concerning all teaching and administrative aspects.

• Actively supporting and adhering to all school policies, particularly those related to uniform and behavior codes.

• Participating in the collegial association with staff.

• Undertaking other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Compensation

HK$608,472 - HK$1,054,812 per year (Two year contracts with 21% gratuity at completion of contract agreement, provided with medical insurance, and relocation allowance and benefits. Teacher salary scale based on 15 steps from Step 1 HK608,472 to Step 15 HKD1,054,812 per year.)
