Job Specification:

Teaching and Learning


To exhibit expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in delivering age-appropriate pedagogy.


To plan and implement the approved curriculum effectively.


To prepare and execute lessons and units of study with defined learning objectives.


Clearly and sequentially communicate the learning objectives to students in a manner suitable for their age.


Address the learning needs of all students, including late arrivals, language learners, and those with varying academic abilities.


Regularly assess daily and weekly planning to ensure it builds on current and past achievements.


Seek opportunities within the curriculum for hands-on experiences and utilize a range of instructional resources, avoiding reliance solely on textbooks.


Monitor and manage each child's progress, ensuring that all assessments, marking, and class records are current.


Return assignments promptly with constructive feedback that includes specific observations on strengths and areas needing improvement.


Utilize assessment effectively to establish realistic and challenging improvement targets and to plan future instruction.


Employ questioning and explanation techniques effectively to maximize student progress.


Establish consistently high expectations for student behavior and attitudes toward learning.


Reflect on personal and peer practices through discussion and observation to gain a comprehensive understanding of effective teaching strategies, demonstrating competence and confidence in utilizing media and technology.


Acknowledge the significance of the after-school program and extracurricular activities, actively participating as directed.


Fulfill any professional duties as assigned by senior management, especially during emergencies, recognizing that such situations may arise in an international context where staffing and resources can be limited.

Pastoral


Support a consistent approach in implementing the School Guiding Statements.


Exercise a professional duty of care by adhering to school policies and procedures concerning student behavior and discipline at all times, including during classes, assigned duties, breaks, and any other interactions with IAA students.


Prioritize student safety at all times.


Practice vigilant safeguarding and duty of care for students.


Develop and implement strategies that promote student self-discipline, reinforce positive behavior, and manage disruptive conduct.


Celebrate students’ achievements both in school and beyond.


Respond sensitively when addressing children’s concerns, ensuring that any issues raised are handled professionally and promptly.


Act as a tutor/class teacher as needed according to assigned roles and deliver related curricula (e.g., PSHE).

Professional Development


Engage in the school’s self-evaluation processes, providing constructive feedback as necessary.


Participate fully in the school’s Staff Development Network by taking part in activities such as action research, in-service training, lesson observations, professional writing, and curriculum development.


Actively contribute to staff initiatives and meetings.


Foster positive working relationships with colleagues through active leadership and the sharing of ideas, materials, and expertise.


Reflect on personal practices and be open to receiving professional feedback from peers.


Stay informed about advancements in pedagogy.

Learning Environment


Create a safe, stimulating, and inviting learning environment, regularly updating displays to celebrate student learning and achievements.


Seek opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom setting.


Prepare additional resources to enhance existing materials and support differentiation.


Manage and maintain efficient use of equipment and learning resources responsibly, ensuring their timely return.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:


Bachelor’s/undergraduate degree with a teaching focus or completion of a teacher preparation program and/or a degree in a relevant academic field from an accredited institution or Board as required by the position.


Teaching certification from a recognized institution and/or Board.


Police clearance to work with children and within schools.


Strong communication skills in the language/s of instruction.


Good interpersonal abilities when interacting with students, parents, and staff.


Capability to supervise students in non-classroom environments.


Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Preferred:


Advanced degree in education or a related subject area.


Experience in an internationally accredited school or a national/state school in an English-speaking country.


Experience and certification in teaching school programs.


Strong communication skills in English (if it is not the language of instruction).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
