Role purpose:
The role involves providing classroom instruction and educational principles in accordance with the Cambridge Education curriculum, ensuring that student learning progresses through effective lesson planning, delivery, classroom management, and related assessments.
Key Accountabilities:
● Collaborate with colleagues to develop high-quality lessons and learning plans.
● Create engaging, interactive lessons that prioritize student engagement.
● Offer instructional guidance based on the relevant curriculum and subject-specific resources.
● Support students according to their individual needs, adjusting for different skill levels.
● Build strong, enduring relationships with students in your classes and across the school to foster high levels of learning.
● Share teaching strategies with peers and engage in a professional learning community to improve overall educational quality.
● Maintain high expectations, believing that every student can exceed their current capabilities.
● Organize and prepare the classroom by setting up necessary equipment for learning.
● Monitor inventory and acquire learning materials as necessary.
● Assign and assess student projects, assignments, and examinations.
● Document and report on student progress.
● Encourage student involvement in maintaining classroom cleanliness.
● Perform duties in alignment with the Cambridge Teaching Standards.
● Attend faculty meetings and other school events as required.
● Provide support to students during school hours and through extracurricular activities.
● Assist students through additional educational support programs outside of regular hours as necessary.
● Contribute to the HAIS monthly magazine, HAISLife.
● Actively engage in personal and professional development.
● Take on tasks assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal, or Learning Leads.

Pastoral / Student Well-being:
● Communicate with parents regarding academic and pastoral matters, including follow-ups on student reports and participation in parent-teacher meetings.
● Support the school’s pastoral and support systems that enhance student well-being.
● Develop and execute sector-specific and school-wide pastoral initiatives.
● Act as a contact point for students, providing pastoral care within your area.
● Design and implement teaching strategies that effectively address students' personal, social, and academic needs.
● Ensure an inclusive environment for all students within the classroom and the broader school setting.
● Promote positive relationships and attitudes among all students and staff.
● Be aware of your pastoral care practices and their effects on students, the school, peers, and the larger community.
Essential criteria:
● A minimum of a university degree along with a recognized teaching qualification.
● At least three (3) years of recent classroom teaching experience.
● Proven experience teaching at the Secondary IGCSE level.
● Familiarity with the Cambridge Education framework.
● Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
● Ability to establish a high level of trust with students, parents, and colleagues.
● A proactive approach to engaging in the school’s extracurricular activities.
Desirable:
● Experience in an international school environment.
● Recent leadership experience in academic and pastoral settings.
● Knowledge of EAL teaching.
Employment requirements:
For international hires, the successful candidate must provide legalized and authenticated copies of identification, qualifications, experience, and probity documents as required by HAIS and relevant local/national government authorities.
The candidate will also need to fulfill probity requirements, including appropriate reference checks, national and local police clearance, and any necessary Work with Children Checks.
