About This Role

St George Madrid is a renowned educational institution located in a desirable area to the north of the city. As part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), which encompasses over 100 schools across 21 countries, we are dedicated to fostering internationally-minded students through outstanding educational practices. Our school features an expansive campus with a variety of new and evolving facilities, and we have seen significant growth in recent years, with promising opportunities for the future.

We are in search of a passionate and knowledgeable educator to join our team, specifically to teach English Language and Literature at the secondary level, reaching up to Key Stage 5 (Year 13). Our educational framework aligns with the English National Curriculum at Key Stage 3, transitions to IGCSE at Key Stage 4, and culminates in the IB Diploma programme during our Sixth Form (Key Stage 5). Experience teaching across this continuum is highly preferred.

Within our IGCSE curriculum, we offer both English Language and Literature, while the IB Diploma features English A: Language and Literature at both Higher Level and Standard Level, along with English B at HL/SL. The ideal candidate should be prepared to instruct in these various courses, and training will be available for those interested in enhancing their abilities to teach the IB Diploma, provided they possess the requisite subject expertise.

As part of the secondary team, the successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the English programme in collaboration with our English department. There may be potential for a middle leadership role for the right candidate. Being an international institution, we anticipate our staff to be actively involved in the school community, contributing to after-school programs and various yearly events. A commitment to holistic education, exemplary pastoral care, and an inclusive approach to teaching will be essential as we finalize our hiring decision.

We take pride in the positive impact we have on our students, regardless of their backgrounds, ensuring that each child achieves success. Given our diverse student body with varying needs, a strong interest in raising attainment for all ability levels is crucial. Candidates must also demonstrate effectiveness as team players, adaptability in new situations, and a flexible problem-solving approach.

If you are committed to child-centered education and sincerely wish to help each child reach their potential while contributing to the ongoing development of an international school, we would be eager to hear from you. Apply via the WhatSchool platform.

Initial interviews will be conducted virtually on a rolling basis, with in-person meetings for shortlisted candidates held in Madrid or London when possible. The application deadline is Friday, 10th April 2026, as we aim for a September 2026 start date or sooner if we find the ideal candidate. Please ensure to upload a recent CV as a supporting document with your application. We reserve the right to appoint the right candidate before the closing date.

Our school is firmly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students in our care, and we expect all applicants to share this commitment. We adhere to safe recruitment practices, and any appointments are contingent upon an interview, satisfactory references, and criminal record checks.
