Required Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
  • A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials assessed through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Language and Cultural Assets

  • Proficiency in Inuktitut (both written and verbal)

  • Background in bilingual or ESL teaching

  • Experience with current assessment strategies to guide learning
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive learning environment through effective classroom management techniques (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement

  • Proven history of developing respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • Experience in promoting student well-being and engagement
  • Participation with students beyond the classroom, when appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice

  • Experience in collaborative instructional planning
