JOB DESCRIPTION
Teachers at Nexus are reflective practitioners who employ inquiry-based methodologies to nurture positive learning environments that challenge and inspire students to become proactive, lifelong learners and leaders.
As a member of our Individuals & Societies team, you will teach students in Years 7 to 13 (ages 11 to 18). We deliver the IB MYP, IGCSE (Edexcel), and IBDP curricula throughout the Secondary school.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will apply effective teaching strategies that assist students in becoming successful and self-directed learners striving for personal excellence by:
- Building relationships focused on learning;
- Fostering student independence in their learning;
- Utilizing suitable assessment tools for both formative and summative purposes;
- Leveraging assessment data to guide planning for student progress;
- Differentiating instruction and providing quality scaffolding and feedback;
- Encouraging students to reflect on their learning experiences;
- Involving students in the process of setting their learning goals;
- Engaging parents in their children's education through learner-led conferences and consistent communication;
- Integrating technology to enhance the educational experience;
- Guiding students through real-world problem-solving;
- Collaborating effectively within and across teams;
- Meeting the Nexus Teacher Professional Standards, committing to ongoing professional development;
- Participating in whole-school events and activities as needed;
- Serving as a form tutor for students as assigned, helping them establish and achieve personal goals.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent)
- A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Geography or a related discipline
- A demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
- Experience working with bilingual and multilingual learners, as well as those with diverse needs
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment, preferably with a curriculum focused on IBMYP, IGCSE, or IBDP.
