About This Role

Are you a qualified UK Primary Teacher looking for a new challenge?

We are excited to present a wonderful opportunity for qualified UK Primary Teachers to join our thriving and supportive school in Shanghai. We are on the lookout for primary educators for KS1 and KS2. Our school offers small class sizes, a collegial atmosphere among staff, and a comprehensive induction program for newcomers.

About the School
Britannica International School Shanghai (www.britannicashanghai.com) is the only genuinely British-owned and managed international school in Shanghai, and it is part of the Orbital Education group. Our educational approach is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage and the English National Curriculum, tailored to meet the needs of our diverse international student body. Secondary students are prepared for Cambridge University and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and A Level examinations.

The school is located in well-equipped, purpose-built facilities in the upscale residential area of Gubei, just 20 minutes from the lively Former French Concession area. With a capacity for 750 students aged 2 to 18 years, our school stands out in the city for its intimate, family-like atmosphere. Currently, we have over 400 pupils enrolled, with class sizes capped at 22, often smaller.

About the Opportunity
Positions are set to commence in August 2025 for KS1 and KS2.

Teaching positions will initially be offered as two-year contracts, with the option for renewal at the end of the term.

Our compensation package includes a salary that exceeds typical UK offerings, with low taxation. Additional benefits include annual flights, a housing allowance, comprehensive medical coverage, and a relocation allowance to facilitate your transition to the city.

Teachers will receive a bonus for each year taught, along with annual salary increases based on performance evaluations. The academic year consists of 180 days, with generous holiday breaks allowing staff to fully enjoy their time in Asia.

We invite applications from individuals with experience in a UK school or an international institution delivering the English curriculum. Candidates must possess a relevant Bachelor's degree from a recognized university and hold Qualified Teacher Status.

As an English school specializing in the English National Curriculum for a diverse international student body, proficiency in English as a first language is essential. Preference will be given to native-level English speakers.

Britannica has established a strong reputation for high-quality education and maintains high expectations for its staff. We welcome fully qualified, adaptable, creative, child-centered teachers who can contribute to enhancing the teaching and learning environment and are willing to engage in the extracurricular activities of our dynamic school.
