About This Role
Main Accountabilities:
At SISC, the teacher’s primary responsibility is to instruct a class of up to 25 students, depending on the grade level. For students in grades 1 to 5, instruction will follow the Cambridge Primary Curriculum Framework.
A teacher must:
- Possess a strong grasp of the Cambridge International curriculum standards and have experience in bridging the achievement gap.
- Create engaging and innovative lessons that foster academic, social, and emotional development in our students.
- Enthusiastically integrate technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom.
- Embrace collaboration with fellow educators, promoting understanding and communication in a culturally diverse learning environment.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons that inspire students’ eagerness to learn.
- Fulfill the learning objectives outlined in the Cambridge International Curriculum by adhering to its content and structure, as well as its delivery methods.
- Design and execute a comprehensive, well-sequenced learning program for students, reflecting contemporary pedagogical practices and individual playing standards.
- Develop daily lesson plans and learning activities aligned with national, local, and school educational standards, informed by research and an understanding of developmental behavior.
- Plan and implement cross-curricular teaching and learning initiatives.
- Provide high-quality, stimulating instruction through discussions, direct teaching, demonstrations, and independent practice, utilizing a variety of effective methods.
- Adapt lessons as necessary to ensure all students can access the curriculum, regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency, or interest in the subject matter.
- Foster an environment of active and genuine learning by employing diverse teaching strategies that cater to the needs of all students.
- Assess student performance on tasks dictated by the standards using varied methods, such as observation, performance-based assessments, or standardized testing practices.
- Track student attendance and ensure timely communication with the designated office regarding absences.
- Select suitable mathematics teaching materials and develop creative approaches to instruction and learning.
- Coordinate and prepare school and community activities, assisting students in effectively displaying and presenting their work.
- Monitor each student’s progress and keep both students and parents informed of their development, utilizing Managua and other communication methods.
- Assist students in participating in internal or external competitions or activities.
- Organize, develop, and lead the School’s Co-Curricular/After-School Programs.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure appropriate events and activities are organized with minimal disruption to the regular schedule.
- Participate in relevant subject or area association meetings and maintain relationships with professional organizations. Seek continual development and improvement of your subject area by accessing and implementing current teaching methods and curriculum tools.
- Be available for additional duties as required within the scope of the position and familiarize yourself with the Southbridge calendar of events, including class activities.
- Act as a positive role model for students, parents, colleagues, and the wider community of Southbridge International School Cambodia.
- Adhere to and uphold all policies and procedures of Southbridge International School Cambodia (SISC), ensuring that actions do not compromise the health and safety of others in the school.
- Apply foundational professional knowledge regarding anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation and its application in the workplace. Be able to articulate the principles effectively.
