THE ACADEMY
GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is a distinguished private IB World School catering to students from PreK through Grade 12. Founded in 2008 as part of GEMS Education, we have received authorization to deliver the PYP, MYP, DP, and CP programmes and are accredited by both the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

THE ROLE
Our Individuals & Societies department has made impressive advancements in improving student outcomes and fostering a love for learning at GEMS World Academy. This achievement is due to the commitment of our staff, their in-depth subject knowledge, and the department's innovative focus on data and curriculum. The Humanities department is highly regarded by our students for its dedication to personal support and care.

SKILLS
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a successful track record of effective teaching and facilitating student achievement. While familiarity with the IB Middle Years Programmes and Diploma Programmes is advantageous, we encourage exceptional educators from diverse curriculum backgrounds to apply. A strong alignment with the IB philosophy and a commitment to the values of the Learner Profile are essential. Additionally, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree paired with a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, PGDE, or an equivalent specialization in Individuals & Societies/Humanities.
- Advanced qualifications are preferred but not essential.
- At least 3 years of experience teaching Secondary Individuals & Societies, ideally in an IB curriculum school, though this is not a requirement.
- A solid understanding of the IB MYP framework and Approaches to Teaching is preferred.
- A strong desire to continually improve their teaching practice and provide exceptional learning experiences for students.
- The experience, personality, and educational philosophy suitable for a leading IB World School like GEMS World Academy.
- Availability starting August 2026.
