About This Role

Located in the scenic area of Maisons-Laffitte, just 20 minutes from central Paris, Ermitage is an international school that boasts a diverse, global community of IB educators dedicated to the achievement and well-being of our students. In line with our mission, vision, and IB philosophy at Ermitage International IB School, we are excited to announce the launch of the International Primary Programme for students aged 8 and above. This program will employ an inquiry-based methodology, featuring small class sizes at our Ermitage IB School campus. Instruction will be conducted in English, with opportunities for students to learn French at all proficiency levels, from beginner to bilingual. These classes are designed to prepare students for our MYP and DP programmes through transdisciplinary learning, emphasizing critical thinking, collaboration, and international-mindedness in accordance with the IB Learner Profile. We are particularly keen on integrating outdoor learning experiences that take advantage of the beautiful surroundings of Maisons-Laffitte park and forest.

We invite applications for the position of International Primary Programme Teacher. Job Type: Permanent, full-time. Applications for part-time positions with job share will also be considered.

Salary: Compensation will be based on experience and aligned with Ermitage IB School’s teacher salary scale.

Job Description:
- Spearhead the initiation and growth of the new International Primary Programme, concentrating on programme design, timetabling, resource development, and co-curricular activities.
- Provide engaging, inquiry-based, transdisciplinary instruction in English for Primary students.
- Offer tailored support for English (and French) language learning across varying levels.
- Manage a small group of students across two-year groups, employing personalized teaching methods.
- Assist with student induction at the beginning and mid-year to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for both children and parents.
- Encourage student academic success, well-being, and participation in co-curricular activities, including planning class outings in and around Paris, with educational sessions in the forest environment of Maisons-Laffitte.
- Cultivate critical thinking, collaboration, and international-mindedness.
- Work closely with the IB curriculum team and the Bilingual Primary school team in support of the programme.
- Act as the primary contact for International Primary Programme parents and community members regarding the programme, including collaboration with our EAL Coordinator, Diverse Learning Needs Department, and MYP Coordinator.
- Serve as an ambassador and advocate for International Primary Programme students within the school community.
- Engage in continuous professional development and pedagogical innovation.
- Stay aligned with and informed about IB programme developments to ensure a smooth transition for IPP students to our MYP programme.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and well-being, including staying updated on regulations, training, and adhering to established policies and protocols.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, specializing in primary education.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching certification.
- Proven teaching experience in an international school environment.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in implementing inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curricula, particularly within an IB or similar framework.
- Experience in communicating with parents and collaborating with school staff across departments; holding a responsibility within a school setting, such as coordinating activities or leading a project, is a plus.
- Proficiency in English with strong communication skills; proficiency in French is preferred.

Remuneration and Benefits:
The position offers a salary in accordance with Ermitage IB School pay scales, based on qualifications and experience as outlined above.

While we do not provide an expatriate package and accommodation or other benefits are not included, we can offer support for an international move, which may cover travel to Paris, visa arrangements, and a settling-in allowance, if needed.
