About the job
What will your responsibilities include?
- Deliver interpreting services for Deaf students and staff across various settings.
- Provide interpreting support for administrative and professional personnel in sensitive or challenging circumstances.
- Assist with interpreting during training sessions and workshops.
What qualifications should you possess?
Mandatory requirements
- A Degree or Diploma in ASL-English Interpreting
- Proficiency in both American Sign Language and English
Knowledge and Skills: Your experience prepares you to meet the following criteria:
- Ability to interpret in a wide range of formal, informal, educational, and professional contexts.
- Understanding of the Professional Code of Ethics established by the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI).
- Advanced fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of Deaf culture.
- Proven capability to work effectively within a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience interpreting for both small and large groups.
