About the job

What will your responsibilities include?

  • Deliver interpreting services for Deaf students and staff across various settings.
  • Provide interpreting support for administrative and professional personnel in sensitive or challenging circumstances.
  • Assist with interpreting during training sessions and workshops.

What qualifications should you possess?

Mandatory requirements

  • A Degree or Diploma in ASL-English Interpreting
  • Proficiency in both American Sign Language and English

Knowledge and Skills: Your experience prepares you to meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to interpret in a wide range of formal, informal, educational, and professional contexts.
  • Understanding of the Professional Code of Ethics established by the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI).
  • Advanced fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of Deaf culture.
  • Proven capability to work effectively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience interpreting for both small and large groups.
