About you:

We are in search of an exceptional Head of English to lead our department and foster excellence within our Secondary school. This role encompasses both teaching and middle leadership responsibilities, with the successful candidate maintaining an active teaching commitment and delivering high-quality English instruction across Secondary.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are energetic, passionate, and well-qualified, holding at least a B.Ed. or a B.A. with a PGCE in English, alongside QTS.

• Have a demonstrated history of outstanding teaching and learning, with experience teaching English at Key Stage 3, GCSE & A Level, and achieving strong student results.

• Show the ability to balance strategic leadership with an active teaching schedule, exemplifying best practices in the classroom.

• Provide clear strategic guidance for the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, and achievement throughout all phases.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of English teachers, cultivating a collaborative, high-performing, and accountable culture.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting innovation and the sharing of best practices within the department.

• Embody a growth mindset, being reflective, adaptable, and focused on solutions.

• Are creative, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking, with the ability to inspire both students and staff.

• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, nurturing strong relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.

• Effectively utilize data and assessments to inform decision-making, enhance attainment, and support student progress.
