About This Role

The British School Yangon is looking for an outstanding Music teacher to join our team. You will be passionate about your subject with the ability to plan and deliver high quality lessons that engage, motivate, and challenge students of all abilities and up to A level. We welcome those with creative, innovative, and enriching ideas which will motivate and inspire our young learners.

There is a great deal of appetite for music at BSY, and this is a great opportunity for someone to further develop our whole school music provision. We have an excellent range of resources, as well as 4 dedicated teaching rooms, and 11 individual practice rooms.

As well as your teaching, you will also be expected to contribute positively to both the school’s pastoral system and the extra-curricular programme, offering an extra-curricular activity that either supports or extends the students’ learning in their subject area, or from another area of personal interest.

About the school

Established in 2014, The British School Yangon (BSY) is the leading British curriculum school in Myanmar. With undoubtedly the best facilities in the city, we offer a genuine and personalised approach to both our students’ learning and our teachers’ wellbeing and professional development. For those with an enthusiastic, collaborative, professional approach to learning and to life, this may well be the perfect opportunity for you.

Our purpose-built school boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a covered sports field, 25-metre swimming pool, two gymnasiums, and a 500-seat theatre. We have state-of-art science labs, as well as specialist music, drama and art rooms. All year groups have extensive play facilities and outdoor spaces. The latest technology features strongly throughout the school and in our modern, air-conditioned classrooms with interactive white boards and wireless connectivity. The school also accommodates the famous Yangon Bakehouse coffee shop, an inviting setting for our community to benefit from. We have a strong and extremely supportive parent community, and our students are enthusiastic and creative learners who are a joy to teach.

About you

As a qualified teacher, you will be a fluent English speaker and have experience of delivering the British curriculum. You will hold high expectations of both yourself and others and be committed to developing personalised, innovative and creative approaches to learning. You will be an excellent communicator, who works in partnership with colleagues, students and parents to create a learning environment that delivers educational excellence. You will be keen to contribute to the ongoing development of our curriculum and will be an effective professional with outstanding subject knowledge and at least two years’ teaching experience.
