Role Overview
Bellver College seeks a qualified, collaborative, and reflective Speech and Language Therapist to support the design and execution of speech and language services within the school.
This role is a vital part of Bellver College’s growing Student Support Team and plays a key role in developing a comprehensive, neuro-affirming support program. Working under the SENCO's direction and in partnership with educators, families, and outside specialists, the Speech and Language Therapist will provide assessment, intervention, and consultation services that enable students to thrive in their learning, communication, and social interactions in the school setting.

Core Purpose
The Speech and Language Therapist will assess, treat, and provide consultative support for students facing challenges related to speech, language, communication, and social communication. The focus will primarily be on the Life Centered Education/Intensive Needs Program over three days each week. A major responsibility will involve collaborating with the Life Centered Education Teacher to enhance the program and deliver therapeutic services while cultivating a nurturing classroom environment. The role emphasizes minimizing barriers to learning, fostering student independence, and advancing inclusive practices throughout the school via collaboration, intervention, and capacity-building initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Intervention
- Conduct assessments, screenings, and evaluations to ascertain students’ speech, language, communication, and pragmatic capabilities while identifying areas needing support.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans and targeted interventions tailored to student needs and school frameworks.
- Facilitate individual and small-group therapy sessions as required.
- Support the implementation of assistive and augmentative communication strategies when necessary.
Individualized Planning & Progress Monitoring
- Play a key role in the creation and evaluation of Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs), IEPs, or similar support documents with specific, measurable goals.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on data and observations.
- Prepare written progress reports and updates for families and the student support team.
Collaboration & Consultation
- Work closely with the SENCO as part of a cohesive Student Support Team.
- Partner with classroom teachers to foster inclusive practices and communication-rich learning spaces.
- Provide guidance and strategies to educators and support staff to meet students’ communication needs in the classroom.
- Participate in student support, team, and parent meetings as needed.
Program Development & Whole-School Support
- Assist in enhancing Bellver College’s speech and language services and inclusive support frameworks.
- Evaluate student applications and offer professional insights regarding communication needs when appropriate.
- Support documentation, data collection, and systems related to student support services.
- Manage resources and operate within established budgets for therapy services.
Professional Practice & Safeguarding
- Keep accurate and confidential student records in line with school policies.
- Consistently follow safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Relevant qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
