About This Role
The school is seeking to hire a qualified and enthusiastic Classroom Teacher (Key Stage 2) for the intake starting in August 2025.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Take charge of teaching all subjects except those delivered by specialist teachers, in line with school policies and curricular frameworks.
- Ensure that medium-term and short-term lesson planning aligns with school guidelines.
- Keep the parent portal updated with useful resources for families.
- Collaborate closely with parallel teachers for both termly and weekly planning, as well as with other staff to guarantee continuity in students' learning.
- Cater to the diverse abilities of students through thoughtfully planned differentiated activities.
- Conduct monitoring, recording, assessment, and reporting in accordance with school policies.
- Promptly mark student work according to the marking policy, providing individual feedback and encouragement whenever possible.
- Conduct P.E. lessons (excluding swimming) when the specialist PE teacher is unavailable.
- Work alongside the music teacher to rehearse and direct students for concerts and services.
- Oversee the pastoral care of the students in your class, promoting positive relationships among the children and with the teacher.
- Manage classroom behavior and discipline in accordance with the school's behavior policy.
- Supervise children during lunch and monitor their behavior (refer to the staff handbook for protocols).
- Maintain close communication with the Head Master and other staff regarding any students of concern.
- Ensure that the classroom is a stimulating and engaging learning environment, with displays that are regularly updated and relevant to classroom activities.
- Organize all classroom resources to ensure they are accessible to students as needed.
- Provide a variety of suitable reading materials in the classroom.
- Review home/school reading diaries daily and make comments as necessary to ensure effective communication.
- Keep all documentation current and accurate (including registers, profiles, and health matters).
- Meet with parents as necessary to build strong professional relationships and open lines of communication.
- Be prepared to promote the school by engaging with prospective parents visiting the classroom, attending open evenings, and serving as an ambassador for the school.
- Participate in parents' evenings and school events as needed.
- Ensure the care, security, and maintenance of resources and equipment throughout the school.
- Fulfill all duties and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook.
- Organize a termly class assembly and occasionally lead whole-school assemblies.
- Attend Parent Association events and other evening or weekend activities.
- Participate in staff and curriculum meetings, including occasional whole-school meetings.
- Engage in the appraisal process.
- Be willing to attend InSETs (sometimes in the evenings) and pursue continuous professional development.
- Lead an after-school activity club.
- Serve as a positive role model in terms of speech, attire, behavior, and care of equipment.
- Additional expertise in one or more specialist fields will be advantageous (see ‘Further Details’ below).
