The Role

RGSPP is searching for an inspiring and experienced Head of English to lead a dynamic and ambitious department comprising English, EAL, and Drama. This position involves delivering programs in English Language, English Literature, EAL, IELTS, IGCSE, and A Level.

The role requires strategic leadership that will significantly influence the entire school. In addition to managing this core academic department, the Head of English will:

  • Advance the school's literacy strategy, assisting staff in the effective integration of reading, writing, and communication skills throughout the curriculum.
  • Advocate for EAL-inclusive teaching strategies, identifying staff training needs and ensuring that teachers in all subject areas are well-equipped to support multilingual learners.
  • Oversee and manage the school libraries, ensuring that collections, resources, and reading environments effectively meet student needs, curriculum demands, and adhere to international best practices.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Lead and cultivate a high-achieving team across English, EAL, and Drama.
  • Develop an engaging English curriculum from Primary through Sixth Form, focusing on ensuring robust progression and outcomes.
  • Establish comprehensive assessment, tracking, and intervention systems.
  • Promote a lively culture of reading, communication, performance, and creativity throughout the school.
  • Contribute to the academic, pastoral, and co-curricular aspects of life at RGSPP, embodying the school's principles of Discovery, Opportunity, Virtue, and Excellence (DOVE), while reflecting our guiding motto: “Ready to Grow, Committed to Learn, and Kind to All.”
