Birch Narrows Dene Community School is currently seeking applicants for the position of Grade 2 Teacher. Nestled in the beautiful Northern Saskatchewan, the Birch Narrows Dene Nation is a close-knit community comprising approximately 750-800 residents. Our school caters to students from Grades N-12 and is well-equipped with a range of facilities, including a gym with changing rooms, a multi-purpose room, a library, a home economics room, a PAA room, science and computer labs, along with various resource areas. BNDCS is committed to nurturing a learning community through positive relationships that celebrate Dene/Cree/Michif cultures, languages, and traditional knowledge. The school also features a cabin that promotes Land-Based education, integrating Indigenous ways of knowing with academic learning to support student success in the educational environment.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Education degree or higher from an accredited institution; eligibility for a Saskatchewan Professional “A” or Provisional Professional “A” teaching certificate.
  • Understanding of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples and the ability to incorporate their culture, values, and history into the curriculum.
  • High expectations and standards for student academic achievement.
  • Proficient classroom management skills, utilizing effective positive behavior management techniques.
  • Willingness to adapt teaching methods and curriculum to include and support special needs students.
  • A commitment to completing the entire academic year.
