About This Role
GEMS Education is in search of an exceptional Assistant Head Teacher – Teaching and Learning Coach to become part of one of our high-achieving Primary schools located in Dubai. Job Purpose
To lead the enhancement of teaching and learning quality throughout the Primary phase, collaborating closely with school leadership to ensure consistently high standards and promote ongoing school improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and School Improvement
• Assist the Principal and Senior Leadership Team in strategic development initiatives for the school.
• Foster a culture characterized by high expectations, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in school-wide evaluation, planning, and quality assurance activities.
Teaching and Learning Development
• Oversee, assess, and enhance teaching and learning practices within the Primary school.
• Offer coaching, mentoring, and customized professional development opportunities for teachers.
• Exemplify outstanding teaching practices through demonstration lessons, co-teaching, and lesson modeling.
• Evaluate planning, teaching strategies, and assessment methods to guarantee inclusive and effective educational experiences for all students, including those with SEN, ELL, and Gifted and Talented backgrounds.
• Lead observation cycles, learning walks, planning reviews, and scrutinize work.
• Ensure that curriculum policies, schemes of work, and assessment frameworks are consistently implemented.
• Collaborate closely with phase and subject leaders to maintain continuity and progression across year groups.
• Assist new and supply staff in grasping school policies, expectations, and systems.
Professional Development
• Design and facilitate CPD sessions that align with school priorities and evidence-based practices.
• Participate in external training and disseminate key insights to staff.
• Aid in coordinating professional development for both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Assessment
• Utilize assessment data and school indicators to evaluate performance and identify areas needing improvement.
• Provide constructive, developmental feedback to enhance teaching practice and student outcomes.
Behaviour, Culture & Community
• Foster a positive learning environment rooted in respect and high expectations.
• Cultivate effective relationships with parents and facilitate home–school communication.
• Lead parent information sessions and engage in school events.
• Support initiatives related to innovation, technology, and enrichment.
Operational & Administrative Responsibilities
• Manage designated budget areas with accountability.
• Organize and oversee resources linked to teaching and learning priorities.
• Ensure effective communication within and between teams.
