About This Role

Main Responsibilities:

Pedagogical Leadership of the IB Middle Years Programme:
- Communicating essential IB MYP updates and information to teachers.
- Guiding and supporting staff in effective teaching and learning practices within the IB MYP.
- Assisting teachers in enhancing their pedagogical skills through ongoing classroom observations and various forms of professional development.
- Collaboratively planning with MYP subject teams to foster teaching and learning that aligns with the MYP and the mission and vision of the Aga Khan Academies.
- Providing continuous professional development for all educators, ensuring a thorough understanding of the MYP philosophy and practices within the context of the Aga Khan Academies.
- Overseeing the execution of the MYP Core (PP, ATTL, and C&S) in accordance with the mission and vision of the Aga Khan Academies.
- Creating, editing, and distributing an IB MYP Strategic Plan aligned with other school priorities for approval by the Head of Academy.
- Collaborating with school administration to ensure appropriate resourcing for the IB MYP.
- Teaching IB courses in alignment with the coordinator contact load at AKA Dhaka.

Liaison with the IB, including overseeing processes for programme authorization and evaluation:
- Communicating with the IB regarding the development and execution of the Middle Years Programme.
- Sharing relevant IB MYP updates and communications with teachers.
- Keeping the Academic Leadership team and other key stakeholders informed of all developments and events related to the IB MYP.
- Coordinating with the Head of Academy and the Academies Unit Education team to ensure successful completion of documentation for authorization and evaluation processes.
- Organizing and facilitating the smooth operation of consultant, authorization, and evaluation team visits.
- Maintaining and updating all necessary documentation on ManageBac, IBIS, and the Academy IT management systems, ensuring accurate student records.
- Identifying and registering teachers for IB MYP conferences and professional development workshops as needed.

Administration of IB eAssessment processes:
- Ensuring adherence to the highest standards of academic honesty among students and teachers across all subjects in the Middle Years Programme.
- Managing internal assessments and e-assessments.
- Taking overall responsibility for the management of standardized assessments (CEM) in the Middle School.
- Collaborating with the Senior School Principal to analyze student performance data to promote early interventions and accelerate the progress of individuals and cohorts.

Ensuring student success within and beyond the MYP:
- Implementing systems to authentically assess, record, and track the progress of all students.
- Analyzing qualitative and quantitative assessment data to identify student needs and areas for programme improvement.
- Assisting the Academy with the recruitment and enrollment of students for the MYP/DP and residential programmes.
- Providing parents with clear information and guidance as their children transition to the Academy for the Middle Years programme.

Building a coherent IB continuum within and across the Academies in line with the Academies’ mission and vision:
- Collaborating with the AKA Dhaka Academic Leadership Team (ALT) to ensure continuity and consistency across the IB programmes.
- Coordinating collaborative planning among different disciplines and phases with the ALT.
- Working with PYP and DP Coordinators to develop continuums for cross-programme elements of the IB, such as ATL, Service-Learning, Academic Honesty, and Global Contexts.
- Engaging closely with MYP coordinators throughout the network to ensure the consistency of the Year 9 curriculum in all Aga Khan Academies.
- Assisting the AU International Exchange Manager and local staff responsible for student exchanges to ensure smooth academic transfers between home and host Academies.
- Collaborating with the AU Education team and MYP Coordinators at other Aga Khan Academies to maintain consistency in programme implementation across the network.

During the candidacy, authorization, and renewal phases, the IBMYP Coordinator (IBMYPC) will be responsible for:
- Communicating with the Head of Academy and Academies Unit Education team to ensure successful completion of documentation related to the authorization process.
- Managing all communication with the IB regarding the development and implementation of the Middle Years Programme.
- Collaborating with the Academy Academic Leadership Team to ensure continuity and consistency within and across the IB programmes.
- Assisting the Academy in sourcing and enrolling students for the MYP/DP and residential programmes.
- Supporting parents with clear information and guidance as their children transition to the Academy for the Diploma programme.
- Coordinating with the AU Education team and DP Coordinators at other Aga Khan Academies to ensure consistency in programme implementation across the network.

Required Attributes:
- A strong commitment to the IB Middle Years Programme.
- Knowledge and understanding of secondary education and the school-university progression.
- Familiarity with authorisation and evaluation frameworks, including the IB Standards and Practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues in a diverse and pluralistic society.
- Demonstrated teamwork abilities with a willingness to build capacity among local staff.
- Commitment to leading and championing innovative transformational changes in teaching and learning approaches.
- Self-motivated, capable of initiating ideas and acting proactively.

Education:
- Master's degree in an education-related field.
- Professional Teaching Qualification.

Valued Additional Assets:
- Understanding and experience in international education and educational standards beyond Bangladesh.
- Intercultural appreciation and sensitivity; able to value diverse cultural contexts and perspectives to enhance students' educational experiences.
- Experience with bilingual programmes.
- Background in K-12 schools with a grasp of the IB continuum.
- Knowledge and understanding of the IBDP and IBPYP.
- Engagement within the IB Educator Network as a Workshop Leader, Visiting Team Member, or Consultant.

Skills:
Experience and Technical Skills:
- Proven experience as an effective and innovative Middle Years Programme (MYP) teacher/leader, showcasing knowledge of the principles and practices that support the curricula and providing substantial evidence of pedagogical practice closely aligned with the IB.
- Established ability to evaluate student progress and learning quality, using this information to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Extensive experience implementing a rich extracurricular programme with a focus on service.
- Proficiency and comfort with information technology.
